For those who are calling Iraq George Bush's war, do you know that only congress can declare war? And they have the responsibility of due diligence for fact finding over if war is needed. Why isn't the congress of the United States equally responsible for any anger over the war. And all those Americans who were standing outside thier homes waving the American flag and so proud we were fighting have put their flags away when people started dying, what did they think would happen, war costs more than money. During WWII, most Americans had the view of keeping out of Europes war, we wanted peace, however the government came up with the Lend Lease program to help UK & Russia fight Hitler, knowing that would make us a target. We also tried diplomatic dialog with Japan, we didn't want a war in the pacific, again most Americans at that time wanted to stay out of another war, since WWI was still so fresh in everyones mind, and for those of you who think that Americans only have one reason to go to war, yes we do, we have obligation to help our allies, in Europe we wanted to free France, Holland and Poland, in the Pacific we wanted to free the Philipines, China, and all the different islands that the Japanese had taken over.

Purple Triangle

i was watching a documentry last week and it was about concentration camps, i was not paying much attention because i was on my computer at the same time, however they were talking about the different badges of shame that were put on the prisoners shirts.

when they got to the purple triangle it was said that, that meant the prisoner was a religious fanatics, now growing up the jw's always said that the purple triangle was for jw's, i am not saying they were not in the camps but, there were other religous groups that the members were taken by the nazi's because of their religious beliefs not just the jw's.

not too long ago i was talking to a jw about this same topic, he said the purple triangle was only for jw's and went on about the abuse and killings suffered because the nazi's targeted jw's.

There are a lot of cases of Catholic Priests who were killed by the Nazi's, there was a show on TV a while back about one priest who kept and hide Jews, when the SS found out they took him and he was never seen again.

Fleaman, no one here is saying JW's didn't die, or making less of that fact, what I am saying is that we were taught that JW's were the only christian religion killed under the purple triangle, I bet many people on this board thought it was only the JW's that were tagged with it.

JW Conscientious Objectors Service or Service

my other post got me thinking, can conscientious objectors serve in some way and say out of jail?

here is a story of a man who served in wwii and recieved a metal of honor.

i can remember hearing stories when i was a kid about how these brave brothers didn't serve in the military and ended up in jail, i always thought that if it was up to me i'd rather serve, why can't jw's serve if called upon if not as a fighter why not as a nurse or in some other way?
